Dear Ralph,
I was very glad to get the pretty cards you sent & the dandy book. I read every bit of it Sunday I was home all day sick with a cold so I had lots of time. It is a dandy book some of the other fellows want to read it. I will let them if they keep it clean. I hope you have your little knife before this, I did not know what to get and as you are getting to be a big boy now I thought you would like a knife. I guess you will get lots of presents Xmas. I guess it will be just like any other day for me but I will be pretty lonesome just the same. All I can say I hope you will have a merry Xmas and happy new year
Lots of love from your soldier
Uncle Frase
